Can Artificial Intelligence support sustainability without reinforcing the very challenges we are trying to solve?
This question lies at the heart of the RADAR-aim project. On 24 March 2026, RADAR-aim took part in the European Climate Pact: Together in Action 2026 event at the European Commission in Brussels. The annual event brings together policymakers, experts, organisations and community leaders to exchange ideas, showcase initiatives and reflect on the future of climate action in Europe.
RADAR-aim was invited by Erasmus+ to co-host a booth highlighting green initiatives and the role of education and funding in building a more sustainable world. As an Erasmus+ funded European project, RADAR-aim explores how Artificial Intelligence can contribute to sustainability, while also raising critical questions about its responsible use.
During the event, the project team had the opportunity to present RADAR-aim, share its first results and engage in valuable conversations with professionals working in the field of climate action, education and innovation. These exchanges confirmed the relevance of the project’s central focus: the question is no longer simply whether AI belongs in sustainability education, but how it can be used in a way that supports — rather than undermines — our sustainability goals.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of looking at AI from a balanced perspective. While AI can offer new opportunities for learning, decision-making and innovation, it also comes with environmental, ethical and social challenges. RADAR-aim aims to contribute to this conversation by developing learning materials that help learners and educators reflect critically on the relationship between AI and sustainability.
